Charles Thomas “Chuck” Erbe I, 86, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Genesis Hospital. He was born June 12, 1938, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, to Herman and Mary Shane Erbe. He was a 1956 graduate of Martins Ferry High School. He was the manager of Hart’s and Seton Square Apartments.

He served our country and protected our freedom in the United States Air Force, where he served as a Radar Technician at Youngstown Air Force Base. Chuck always attended the Church of God throughout his life and made the Zanesville Church of God his home. Loving people and going to church were his hobbies.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Rose Erbe, whom he married on April 24, 2021; five children: Stephanie (Brock) Barnhouse, Charles (Barbi) Erbe II, Susie (Steve) Baldwin, Shane (Tammy) Foraker and Jeannie Finnerty; grandchildren: Jessica (Bryan) Bradshaw, Leah (Andrew) Trowbridge, Sadie Erbe, Parker Barnhouse, Laban (Jennifer) Erbe, Jenna Barnhouse, Ryan McCoid, Lindsey Baldwin, Brittany Foraker, Paige Foraker, Kyle (Katie) Finnerty, Sean (Lexy) ) ) Finnerty, Leea (Caitlyn) Finnerty, Audrey Baldwin and Sydney Baldwin; great-grandchildren: Emma Bradshaw, Sawyer Bradshaw, Jemma Trowbridge, Willow Erbe, Aurora Erbe, Izrael Clark, Waylon Harry and Walker Finnerty.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Myrtle Wensyel Erbe, who passed away on February 17, 2017; and two sisters: Joan Reeb and Carol Sue Barnett.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Zanesville First Church of God, 1930 Newark Road, Zanesville, and one hour prior to services. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, at the church with son Chuck Erbe II and Brock Barnhouse officiating. The funeral service will be held at 12:45 p.m. on Friday, November 8, at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
