NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – A woman was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to stabbing her ex-boyfriend to death in March 2023.

Jean Marie Echevarria was sentenced to 16 to 19 years in state prison after pleading guilty. jointly stabbed then-boyfriend Brennan Bleau Culdaff Street apartment when they were both 23 years old.

According to the Northwest District Attorney’s Office, while Echevarria and Bleau were arguing at 3 a.m. on March 14, 2023, Echevarria stabbed Bleau five times with a kitchen knife. The victim died in hospital hours later.

Given the severity of the stab wounds and the excessive force, prosecutors said Echevarria was given a longer sentence.
