GRAND FORKS, ND (Valley News Live) – Grand Forks Public Health opened the Greater Grand Forks Milk Depot on Monday, November 4th. The warehouse creates a safe and convenient process by providing a place for pre-screened families to drop off their breast milk donations. for donors.

The milk arriving at the warehouse is sent to a facility based in Colorado, where it is pasteurized, tested, analyzed and distributed to babies, especially those in the hospital NICU.

“The idea for the milk pantry came from our Greater Grand Forks Breastfeeding Coalition. “We wanted to be able to give back to society, and providing a convenient and easy way for families to donate excess breast milk is one way we can do that,” shared public health dietitian Mandy Burbank, RD, LRD, CLC. “Breast Milk not only provides significant short-term benefits for babies , it also has many long-term benefits that prepare them for a healthier life. “Donating breast milk is an opportunity to help our youngest members of society.”
