SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) — A man died after being stabbed and mauled by several dogs in San Bernardino, triggering a death investigation, authorities said.

The fatal incident occurred Sunday near the playground at Perris Hill Park, according to the San Bernardino Police Department. Police officers responded to the scene around 5.20pm and found a man suffering from suspected stab wounds and dog bites.

The victim, who authorities said was homeless, was taken to the hospital but could not be saved. It is unclear whether it was a stabbing or a stabbing.

The police could not provide information about the suspect in the stabbing incident, nor could they say where the dogs came from.

Animal control officials told Eyewitness News a total of 11 dogs were seized and quarantined.
