Mansfield man killed in skateboard/vehicle crash Friday

A 28-year-old Mansfield man died from injuries sustained while riding a skateboard when he failed to navigate traffic and crashed into a vehicle after running a stop sign.

The crash happened Friday at 9:20 p.m. on North Walnut Street at West Fifth Avenue.

Richland County Coroner Bob Ball said skateboarder Douglas Mitchel Miller was pronounced dead Sunday at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.

Miller, of Mansfield, was thrown from his skateboard onto the road, according to the Mansfield police crash report.

According to the police report, the driver of the vehicle escaped uninjured.
