Urbandale woman allegedly killed by daughter’s ex while moving her to another location

The 45-year-old woman killed Friday was helping her daughter move when her daughter’s ex-boyfriend allegedly shot her and her husband in the head.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called at 5:21 p.m. Friday to a home in the 200 block of Northwest 51st Place on Des Moines’ north side for a report of a shooting, according to a news release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Robison died in hospital. According to the statement, her 52-year-old husband was in critical condition as of Monday morning.

Investigators determined the shooting was a domestic situation between Smajlovic and his ex-girlfriend, the news release said.

Smajlovic is being held in the Polk County Jail on a $750,000 cash bond awaiting his next court date. The court also issued a no-contact order for his ex-girlfriend.
