According to a JCSO news release, deputies responded to a residence on Wonder Road early Monday morning reporting “a suspicious individual armed with a rifle wandering around someone’s yard.”

“At that time, the suspect raised his rifle toward the deputies,” JCSO said. “Fearing for their own lives and the safety of others, deputies used deadly force to apprehend the suspect.”

Three deputies immediately began life-saving measures, but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the statement, none of the deputies were harmed and the investigation was handed over to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
