UFC heavyweight champion Belal Muhammad mocks Shavkat Rakhmonov’s request for an interim title fight: “Brother, it’s six weeks away.”

Replies to Mohammed Rakhmonov

“I could see them trying to do something with Shavkat but he wants an interim title fight and I say an interim title fight? Brother, I’m away for six weeks, not six months,” Muhammad told Jon Anik. “But even for me, if they just want to make it the main event… I mean, if they want to make it a title fight, I don’t care because they know who the real belt is. So for me, I know who my next opponent will be. If he wants to wait, it will be us.”

This follows up on similar comments made by another popular UFC commentator.

“We should drop the interim title, there is no need to do an interim title,” former UFC heavyweight champion and current color commentator Daniel Cormier said during the UFC Edmonton Fan Q&A. “Did Belal win the belt in June or July? When I was fighting, if you got injured, you had a year before you were made interim champion. Now it’s like people want interim championships; “At this point you can almost nominate yourself for an interim championship.”
