Ibrahim Cissoko: Plymouth Argyle winger out until January with hip injury

Plymouth Argyle winger Ibrahim Cissoko will be out until January after having surgery on his hip injury.

The 21-year-old Netherlands Under-21 player has been one of Argyle’s most impressive players this season.

Cissoko was injured in the 5-0 defeat against Cardiff City and was sent off in the first half.

He has scored three goals in 12 matches since his loan transfer from French club Toulouse in the summer.

Cissoko joins a growing list of injuries that also includes captain Joe Edwards, goalkeeper Conor Hazard and defenders Lewis Gibson and Brendan Galloway.

“It’s a big blow for us, a big loss,” head coach Wayne Rooney told BBC Radio Devon.

“He did that when he was sent off in the Cardiff game.

“He hasn’t trained since then, we sent him for scans and unfortunately we were told he needed surgery and he will be out until January.”

This means Rooney could turn to Mustapha Bundu or Tegan Finn or Freddie Issaka to replace Cissoko.

“I think he’s a really important player for us, but this is an opportunity for other players to come in and hopefully they can get them,” added Rooney.
