    How long will it take to find out who won the presidency?

    LiveNOW’s Austin Westfall talks with David Becker, executive director of the Center for Election Innovation and Research, about the 2024 presidential election and how long it will take for Americans to know when the winner will be announced.

    Election Day It’s civic duty day, but going out to vote has its perks, too.

    A number of businesses are offering Election Day giveaways and deals on November 5.

    Election Day is not a federal holiday, but some states and localities consider it a holiday, which means some offices may be closed.

    Here are the businesses offering freebies and discounts on Election Day.

    Uber

    Uber is offering 50% off (up to $10) to riders heading to a polling place. The app will also help users find the nearest polling place.

    Uber Eats offers 25% off orders up to $15, with a minimum of $25. Offer valid between November 5 at 18:00 local time and November 6 at 7:00 local time.

    Lyft

    Lyft is offering a 50% discount (up to $10) to drivers heading to the polls on Election Day. Users can preload the VOTE24 ride code on or before November 5.

    Lime

    E-bike and e-scooter company Lime is offering a free 30-minute ride to and from polling places from October 29 through November 5 using the code VOTE2024.

    Krispy Kreme

    At Krispy Kreme, customers can get a free original glazed donut, with no proof of purchase or voting required, in honor of “DOUGHmocracy.” You can also get an “I Voted” sticker from Krispy Kreme if you voted early or mailed your ballot.

    Fazoli’s

    Fazoli’s is offering $2 off a special bakery menu. These options include baked chicken Parmigiano, loaded baked spaghetti, and spicy baked ziti with Italian sausage. In-store and participating locations only.

    Johnny Rocket’s

    Johnny Rocket customers who show the “I Voted” sticker on Election Day can receive a free shake with any in-store purchase made at participating Johnny Rockets stores.

    How are votes counted in US elections?

    Unlike many countries, US elections are highly decentralized and feature long lists of races. Presidential and Congressional elections are conducted by county, town, and state election officials, down to local authorities, and not by any national election authority. Charles Stewart III, the Kenan Şahin Distinguished Professor of Political Science at MIT, joined FOX’s LiveNOW to break it all down.

    Round Table Pizza

    Round Table Pizza is offering $6 off large or extra-large pizzas for dine-in, takeout or delivery at participating locations on Election Day.

    Ikea

    Participating Ikea locations will offer free frozen yogurt with coupon on Election Day. click Here to download.
