Maha Vikas Aghadi issues ultimatum to rebels to withdraw candidacy in Maharashtra elections

The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has given a one-hour ultimatum to rebel candidates to withdraw their candidacies, saying it is not in favor of “friendly fights”. Addressing a joint press conference with NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray warned that action would be taken against rebels who did not withdraw their candidature by 3 pm.

“We have appealed to many rebel leaders to withdraw. Many have agreed to withdraw. Once the time expires, we will know who has withdrawn. Rebels who do not withdraw will face action by the party,” Thackeray said.

According to the Election Commission, the last day to withdraw nominations is November 4. As the MVA prepares to unveil its election manifesto at a massive rally on November 6, senior officials want to present a united face.
