    There’s always a Wisconsin connection, even if Vice President Kamala Harris makes a surprise appearance on “Saturday Night Live.”

    Comedian John Mulaney also mentioned Wisconsin in his opening monologue when he talked about his grandfather growing up on a farm in East Troy. Mulaney once again shouted out East Troy, a village in Walworth County, when the comedian talked about his father trying to find words of wisdom as he recovered from substance abuse.

    “He was trying to think of something clever to say. And at one point he said: ‘Oh, yeah, I wish my grandfather were here.’ “I said, ‘Dad, if my grandfather was here, he’d be 118 years old, and I highly doubt he’d give good advice about dealing with the backlash on social media,’” Mulaney said with a laugh. “Something tells me he’s from East Troy, Wisconsin, too old to fight in World War II.” He was too old for the oldest thing that ever happened, and my grandfather came and said, ‘Oh, no we’re good. We won.’
