Swimmer rescued from water dies

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — A man died while swimming near Boynton Bay Sunday morning, deputies said.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, at 10:32 a.m. the Manalapan Police Department received a 911 call from a beachgoer reporting a swimmer in distress near the bay.

The area was about a quarter mile north of the lifeguard-unguarded area.

Security guards and paramedics at a nearby property rescued the man from rough waves and currents and performed CPR until Palm Beach County Fire Rescue personnel arrived, the sheriff’s office said.

The swimmer was taken to East Bethesda Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by emergency personnel at 11:17 a.m.

The sheriff’s office said the man’s identity was unknown at the time.

An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death.

In a separate incident, 19-year-old young man drowned On Sunday, St. Swimming at Pepper Park Beach in St. Lucie County.
