3 people burned to death in car fire in Kurukshetra

Three members of a family died and three others were injured when the car they were traveling in caught fire on NH-44 in Kurukshetra’s Shahabad district on the night connecting Saturday and Sunday, police said on Sunday.

All of them were taken to the nearest hospital where Sandeep and his daughters were declared brought dead and the others were referred to PGIMER Chandigarh. Sushil and his son Yash escaped unhurt. (iStock)

The dead were identified as Sandeep Kumar and his daughters Pari and Amanat, while the injured were Aarti, Lakshmi and Sudesh, residents of Sonepat.

Police said Sandeep along with his wife Lakshmi, daughters Pari and Amanat, brother Sushil, Sushil’s wife Aarti and son Yash and their mother Sudesh were traveling to Chandigarh from their village in Sonepat when their Maruti Suzuki Ertiga caught fire near Mohri village. he said.

All of them were taken to the nearest hospital where Sandeep and his daughters were declared brought dead and the others were referred to PGIMER Chandigarh. Sushil and his son Yash escaped unhurt.

SHO Shahabad police station Nirmal Singh said that the fire is suspected to have occurred due to short circuit and everyone was trapped due to the car being locked.

“Despite people’s help, 3 people died and 3 people were seriously injured. “After the autopsy, the bodies were handed over to the family,” he said.
