A questionable call on an onside kick was the last straw for a few Clemson fans in Saturday night’s 33-21 loss to Louisville.

Expressing their frustration with poor judgment, several Clemson fans threw trash, mostly water bottles, onto the field of play in the fourth quarter.

A Clemson reporter asked the head coach: Dabo Swinney Sunday’s media teleconference involved fans throwing things onto the pitch following the controversial review.

“That’s not who we are at Clemson,” Swinney said. “I understand, but they have to let me handle the referees. This is not something we should be doing at Clemson. I hope we learn from this and it doesn’t happen again.”

Swinney was asked about the review call following Saturday night’s loss.

“They saw something different,” Swinney said of the referees. “We thought we had control of the game, on the ball and on the ground. The game was over. I think wherever they looked at the evaluations, they saw something different in Charlotte.”

Louisville scored on the next play.
