Columbus police officer killed in off-duty crash

A Columbus police officer was killed in an off-duty accident Saturday, according to Brian Steel, President of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 9.

“It is with great sadness that the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 9, Capital City, announces the death of one of our valued members in an off-duty incident,” Steel said in a statement. he said. “Tonight we mourn the loss of a dedicated civil servant and valued friend, colleague and public servant whose absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him and the community he so faithfully served.”

Steel added: “This officer, who dedicated his life to protecting the safety and well-being of others, leaves behind a loving family and countless colleagues who will remember him for his dedication, integrity, and devotion to duty. His passing is deeply felt. We are deeply moved by our lodge, the Columbus Police family, and the lives of those who protect him every day.” the loss of the residents for whom he worked.”
