How Are Jaguars’ Riding Injuries Affecting Trevor Lawrence?

During last week’s loss to the Green Bay Packers, the Jacksonville Jaguars lost their top three wide receivers to injury.

Back-to-back injuries have left quarterback Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars’ offense dependent on other lesser-known players to fill the void left by the injuries to Brian Thomas Jr., Christian Kirk and Evan Engram.

Lawrence threw passes to eight different players last week, including two different running backs.

Injuries to receivers have undoubtedly increased the workload for Lawrence and the rest of the team. Still, Lawrence thinks his job is the same regardless of who is injured or not. He knows the team will only be successful if it plays well, with or without the best receivers.

“No, I mean, I gotta play well,” Lawrence said. “But it’s the same thing every week. I’m not putting any more pressure on myself. I have to play well. I have to play well every week to give us a chance to win. It’s like just playing point guard in this league. It’s not specific to our team or the situation.
Exactly. “

As Lawrence prepares for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, he plans to approach things the same way he always does. Considering that experienced winger Christian Kirk will miss the game, Lawrenece plans to do his best to get the rest of the offense ready.

“So yeah, like I said, I’m going to have a great week of preparation,” Lawrence said. “Make sure
I’m ready to go on Sunday and work on all of this stuff as we talked about.
All the guys obviously Christian (WR Christian Kirk) isn’t going to be there, but all the other guys are a little confused, if they’re ready to go, great.

“We’re prepared for that. It’s not a huge change. But if that’s not the case, how do we handle other things and we’ll talk to all the players who can play and make sure we do that.” Everyone is called and ready to go.

It’s my responsibility and it’s the coaches responsibility and we’re going to make sure we’re ready and then we’re going to go play. Trust these guys to win. We have good players. Frankly, it sucks when you miss the guys and you want your guys to be there. But we have ready players who are capable of doing their job.”
