Last week of the season after three games on Friday and two on Saturday Washington County high school football regular season is in the books. Here’s what happened:

North Hagerstown racked up 470 yards of total offense, including 389 on the ground, to cruise to a 41-14 victory over South Hagerstown in the annual Hub City Gridiron Classic on Saturday.

“This is a special event,” said North first-year head coach Nathan Butts. “This game has always been special. It means a lot to me personally. We used to come here with my family when I was a kid. We’d sit at Pizza Hut and have dinner, then we’d walk down the street. It’s a lot for these guys to be the head coach and have success in this game.” I’m happy, I’m excited for my players to experience this right now.”

James Jackson set the pace for the Hubs (4-5), rushing for 135 yards and three touchdowns and catching Logan Hoffman’s 60-yard TD pass. Jackson extended the credit to offensive players.

“I followed them, went into the hole, and no one could catch me after that,” he said.

“He’s a special talent,” Butts said of Jackson. “If you get the ball in his hands, good things happen. What’s great about our guys right now is we have five, six, seven guys touching the ball. We spread the love, we have the weapons and we try to use it. It all makes us harder to defend.”

Jackson scored all four of his touchdowns in the first half, including a 78-yard TD run in the final seconds of the second quarter, as North took a 27-0 halftime lead.

“I was locked in,” Jackson said. “I’ve never been this locked in a game before, and it shows.”

Ty Fauntleroy and JJ Butts scored TD runs for the Hubs in the second half, and Sergio Melendez Urizar was 5-for-5 on extra point kicks.

For the Rebels (1-8), Josiah Davis scored on a 3-yard run and returned the kickoff for a 78-yard touchdown.

St. James 40, Flint Hill 30

Jayden Yates threw for 98 yards and three touchdowns, Sammy Stonebraker rushed for 83 yards and two TDs and the Saints (6-4) completed their fifth straight winning season by beating the visiting Huskies (1-8) on Saturday.

Jorge Diaz Nicolas kicked two field goals and two extra points to break Washington County’s single-season record for scoring 67 points.
