Packers QB Jordan Love ready to face Lions while dealing with groin strain

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Jordan Love is available for the Green Bay Packers’ game against the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions on Sunday after the quarterback left the game in the third quarter of last week’s win at Jacksonville with a groin strain.

Love, who turns 26 on Saturday, was not included on the list of inactive players the Packers announced before kickoff. Love was listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report, although he practiced on a limited basis Thursday and Friday.

Green Bay (6-2) will also have running back Josh Jacobs. Jacobs was listed as questionable after limited practice Thursday and Friday with an ankle injury.

The news wasn’t entirely positive for the Packers.

Green Bay will be without two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander or safety Evan Williams as the Packers try to slow down the NFL’s highest-scoring offense.

Williams was already out of the lineup on Friday due to a hamstring injury. Alexander was listed as questionable Friday even though he had not practiced all week after injuring his knee late in the Jaguars game.

The Packers will also be without center Josh Myers due to an ankle injury. Myers started each of Green Bay’s first eight games this season and has started all 17 regular season games for the Packers in both 2022 and 2023.

Detroit (6-1) ruled out linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez (ankle), defensive lineman Josh Paschal (illness) and linebacker Brodric Martin (knee) on Friday.

Love was first hurt on the first series of the Packers’ 30-27 victory over the Jaguars. Love remained in the game until he collapsed near the sideline after completing a pass to Josh Jacobs early in the third quarter.

Other inactive players for the Packers include wide receiver Malik Heath, defensive lineman Brenton Cox Jr. and Travis Glover on offense.

In addition to Rodriguez, Paschal and Martin, the Lions’ inactive list also includes running back Sione Vaki, offensive linemen Giovanni Manu, Christian Mahogany and Colby Sorsdal and defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo.
