20-year-old arrested after 2 killed in head-on crash in Marion County

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A 20-year-old man was arrested following a crash that left two people dead in Marion County on Saturday, November 2nd.

Kentucky State Police said the crash happened around 6:20 p.m. on US 68 near the Jessietown Road intersection. Initial investigation showed that 20-year-old Erick Garcia of Lebanon was traveling westbound when his truck crossed into the eastbound lane and then left the roadway. Garcia swerved into the eastbound lane and crashed head-on into a car.

The passenger of the eastbound car, 72-year-old Deborah Wright of Lebanon, died at the scene. Lebanon driver Roy Wright (75) died after being taken to hospital.

Garcia was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, assault, driving under the influence, wanton endangerment, reckless driving and failure to produce insurance card. Garcia is expected to appear in court on Monday, November 4.
