2 killed in wrong-way crash on Gene Snyder near New Cut Road

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Two people were killed in a wrong-way crash on I-265 South on Sunday, November 3rd.

Louisville police said they were called to Gene Snyder around 1:40 a.m. after officers passed the intersection of New Cut Road, where they found the wreckage.

The initial investigation, along with witness statements, showed a man entered the interstate on the Dixie Highway, traveling northbound in the southbound lanes, then crashed into a woman’s car at 3.8 mph.

LMPD said both cars were seriously damaged. First responders worked to save the man and woman, but emergency services pronounced them both dead at the scene in their vehicle.

Police said they do not know at this time whether the wrong-way driver was impaired.

Southbound lanes were closed for several hours following the crash.

LMPD’s Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation.
