OWENSBORO, Ken. (WFIE) – New recruits to the Owensboro Fire Department have had an intense week of training.

According to OFD Facebook, recruits were put through Firefighter Survival, Firefighter Rescue and Flashover Recognition training.

They say flashover training teaches firefighters the importance of understanding signs of impending flashover and tactics to protect themselves.

Temperatures reached 1012 degrees Fahrenheit during this training.
