Myatt Snider ‘Still Scraps’ NASCAR Career After Martinsville Top 10

NASCAR Xfinity Series opportunities have been few and far between for Myatt Snider over the past two years.

The 29-year-old racer, who competed full-time in the second-tier series between 2020 and 2022, made half a dozen starts with Joe Gibbs Racing equipment last season, but was only able to get to the race track this year. three times.

Barring a last-minute phone call of sorts, Snider’s final start of the 2024 Xfinity Series campaign took place Saturday at Martinsville Speedway, where he piloted the No. 91 Tree Top Chevrolet Camaro for DGM Racing.

Snider managed a top 10 finish at one of his favorite race tracks on the circuit and finished the race in 10th place; After the incident with Kyle Sieg (No. 39) at the beginning of the race, he recovered and fell to the back of the team.

“It was a classic short track race, wasn’t it? You battled through some adversity, but to do it you have to have some stamina, have a good car and have a good crew around you.” Snider said.. “I’m very grateful to Mario (Gosselin) and everyone at DGM Racing who did a great job.”

“We were kind of in the middle of balance all day, like we started the weekend a little bit too loose, we finished the race too tight, so we were floating around the right balance the whole time. Luckily, we made the most of it and passed some cars there,” Snider added. .

Saturday’s National Debt Relief 250 at Martinsville Speedway marked the first partnership between Snider and DGM Racing, which entered full-time racing for the 91st and 92nd-placed Chevrolet Camaro in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Snider says overall the experience has been positive.

“I’ve really loved working with DGM (Racing) here, they’re a really professional group for the size of their organization, it’s really great to work with these guys and I think we all have the mindset we want.” “We want more of these to happen next year, so how do we do that?”

Looking to the future, the Charlotte, North Carolina native’s goal is to have a more prominent presence in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. In three starts this year, Snider finished in the top 25 three times; two with SS-GreenLight Racing and the top 10 with DGM Racing.

“I think I’m in a better spot than I was this year, so that’s good,” Snider said about his plans for next season. “Hopefully this means more starts.”

“I was wondering how long this career would continue” Speaking about his future, Snider said: “I’m still fighting for that, but you never know when your last start is going to be, and I’m still pushing for that, I’m still fighting for that, but to make three starts (and) finish the year on a high.” “Being No. 10 at Martinsville, one of my favorite venues, means a lot to me and it’s really great to be working with DGM Racing.”

“I think I’m in a better place than I was this year, so that’s good. Hopefully that means more starts (next year).”

While Snider hasn’t been behind the wheel of a race car much this season, he’s still spent a lot of time at the race track this season keeping himself updated while working alongside his father, NBC Sports pit reporter Marty Snider. a pit watcher.

Snider, who put together a hard-fought top-10 result in Saturday’s Xfinity Series event, will swap his fire suit for an NBC Sports polo as he practices Sunday’s XFINITY 500, the second and final event of the NASCAR Cup Series season.

As for the next time he gets behind the wheel of a NASCAR Xfinity Series vehicle? For now this needs to be determined.
