IND vs NZ 3rd Test in Mumbai: Highlights

The India skipper said that the approach did not work at the end of the day and he ended up not calling it.

“You want to run on the board as well, that was something I had in mind (about his batting today), it didn’t work and it doesn’t look great when it happens. I have some ideas in my mind. It came to me when I went to bat but it didn’t work in this series and that was disappointing for me ” said Rohit.

Rohit ended a dreadful series for himself by scoring 11 runs in the second innings.

The goal was achievable

Rohit said that the defeat was a tough one to digest and ultimately New Zealand performed better than them. The India captain admitted that he made many mistakes throughout the series and thought they were ahead when they took the lead in Mumbai.

Rohit said he felt the goal was finally achievable.

“Losing a series, losing a Test is never easy, it is something that cannot be digested easily. We did not play our best cricket again, we know and we have to accept it. They (New Zealand) played a lot better than us. We made a lot of mistakes and we will have to accept that. First We didn’t put enough runs on the board in the innings (in Bengaluru and Pune) and we were 30-under in the game, we thought we were ahead, the target was also achievable, we still had to do better,” Rohit said.

This was the first time India were whitewashed in a 3-match Test series at home.
