Several investigations continue after violent week in Mobile County

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Several investigations are ongoing after a violent week in Mobile County.

Investigators say deputies were trying to serve arrest warrants on Juan Puente Junior involving child pornography. Officials say Puente led lawmakers on a chase that ended in deadlock after shooting at deputies and barricading himself in his garage.

Sheriff Burch said Puente continued shooting at law enforcement from his garage before he was shot and killed.

“They’re trying to get these types of people off the streets,” Sheriff Burch said. “This person chose a path other than going to prison.”

Around 4 o’clock on Thursday morning, Woman’s body found on the roadside on Barnes Boulevard. Mobile police identified the woman as 63-year-old Donna Morrow. Investigators say this is an active homicide investigation.

An hour later, on Thursday afternoon, chaos broke out in Saraland. One person was injured in the conflict. Police said the man was a murder suspect wanted out of Florida. It all happened in the parking lot of a shopping mall on Celeste Road. Saraland Library was surrounded by gunfire, but thankfully no one was injured.

“I looked at the front, saw two people with guns, I told everyone to get down and go to the back. Then the glass broke and someone was trapped in the study, but I told him to stay downstairs. “I wasn’t expecting this at Saraland, of all places,” Saraland Library Director Matt Cobb said.

The suspect’s identity and condition are unknown tonight. FOX10 News reached out to the U.S. Marshall’s Office, ALEA and the Gulf Coast Regional Task Force but did not hear back.

Later Thursday night, Mobile police said they found 15-year-old boy died after being shot with a firearm On the side of the road on Arcturus Lane. As of Saturday evening, there is still no suspect in custody.

Fast forward to Friday evening, MPD says I found a man with a fatal gunshot wound on LeFlore Drive. Mobile police arrested Zakiyyah Bonner, 24, of Mobile and accused him of murder, domestic violence and trespassing.

Jail records show Bonner’s bond hearing is set for Monday.
