JACKSONVILLE — florida football QB DJ Lagway was carted off the field with an apparent leg injury in the second quarter of UF’s game against rival Georgia on Saturday at EverBank Stadium.

Lagway, a five-star true freshman from Willis, Texas, caught his left leg in the turf on a running attempt with 5:01 left in the second quarter. His teammates surrounded him as he was taken away. Florida Alligators Fans chanted “DJ Lagway” as the car headed into the tunnel.

The 6-foot-1, 239-pound Lagway threw a 42-yard TD pass to sophomore Aidan Mizell to give UF a 7-3 lead before he was injured, and he went 2-of-6 passing for 47 yards, running for 18 yards. Aidan Warner, a transfer from Yale, replaced Lagway and played the remainder of the second quarter.

“He had a hamstring injury,” Florida football coach Billy Napier said in a halftime interview on ABC. “It’s a pretty significant thing.”

After the game, Napier said Lagway would undergo an MRI on Sunday for further evaluation of the damage. Asked if the injury was season-ending, Napier said: “It’s soft tissue related, so these things can be subjective sometimes.”

The loss of Lagway is another blow to UF’s offense, with Graham Mertz already depleted at quarterback for the season due to the ACL tear he suffered Oct. 13 at Tennessee.

Florida also lost cornerback Devin Moore on Saturday to a knee injury while returning an interception in the second quarter. Moore was on crutches after the game.
