Bulldogs stifle Gators in second-half revival

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Annoying Georgia football Saturday’s win keeps the No. 2 Bulldogs’ season moving forward.

The red-blacks recovered after a tough fight in the first half and defeated their opponent. crocodiles34-20, Dwight Phillips Jr. in the fourth quarter. and Dominic Lovett consolidated the score with two goals. Nate Fraizer and Cash Jones scored the other two goals, both in the second half.

Walk-on Aidan Warner replaced Lagway. Starter Graham Mertz was lost for the season with a knee injury.

Florida went 37 yards and caught a 32-yard Trey Smack field goal after Carson Beck’s second interception.

Gators lead 10-3 with 7:22 left in the first half.

Carson Beck forced a double cover on the pass on his ninth interception, and Florida needed just one play to earn the point.

DJ Lagway connected on a 43-yard pass to Aidan Mizell and beat KJ Bolden and Malaki Starks, also in coverage. Florida led 7-3 with 13:42 left in the second quarter.
