Tennessee DL got away with a seemingly cheap shot against Brock Vandagriff

Tennessee and Kentucky was a high-scoring, low-scoring, physical game with some big shots. There were plenty of legitimate hits to keep football fans in the 1980s enjoying the game, but there was also one that fell into the cheap shot category.

The incident happened on the Tennessee sideline when linebacker Omarr Norman-Lott took a cheap shot on Kentucky quarterback Brock Vandagriff as he ran toward the sideline.

However, much to the broadcast analysts’ disbelief, the referee team did not have any flags on the play. Here is a replay of the incident:

Not only did he throw a cheap shot, but Vandagriff threw an interception later in the drive.

Kentucky came into this game with a lot of injured players and it felt like a game where the Volunteers could get things started on the offensive end, but so far that hasn’t been the case. Kentucky went into halftime leading 10-7.

There are only 2 games left until the Volunteers travel to Athens to face #2 Georgia.
