A 44-year-old permanent resident of Singapore died in an accident on Malaysia’s North-South Expressway in the early hours of Wednesday (October 31).

The woman, Chang Lee Won, was killed instantly.

She was traveling with her Singaporean husband and two sons, aged 16 and 19, on the Deepavali holiday.

Shin Min Daily News reported The family is believed to have been traveling towards Chang’s hometown, Kuala Lumpur, when the accident occurred around 5am.

They were traveling in a Hyundai Starex.

While her husband and 16-year-old son were slightly injured, her 19-year-old son and the Malaysian driver were seriously injured.

The Malaysian driver and Bangladeshi passenger in the other vehicle, Toyota Unser, were slightly injured.

Rescue personnel in Yong Peng were alerted to the incident at 5.04am and the operation lasted about an hour and a half.

Accordingly Shin MinA neighbor of the family said that his younger son was in Secondary School 4, while his older son had just enlisted in the military.

The neighbor added that the family occasionally visits relatives in Malaysia during long holidays.
