Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park is closing due to lawsuit filed over crash that killed 9-year-old girl

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (KABC) — Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park has announced it will be closing due to a recent lawsuit regarding a crash that killed a 9-year-old girl.

Brooke Carlton died in June following what was described as a “freak accident”.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said the girl was on a track designed for off-roaders using electric motorcycles when she was struck by another boy, also riding a dirt bike.

While the other child, who was slightly injured, was treated at the scene, Brooke was taken to the hospital and died.

Accordingly A statement posted on the park’s Instagram account on Saturday.The property owner terminated the contract.

“It was their decision that closing the runway would be in their best interest,” the statement said.

“Although there have been many challenges along the way, we have enjoyed running the track. I think we are very lucky to have such a great customer group and such good people working at the track. It has been an honor and pleasure to see you all at the track.”

A meeting is planned for Sunday to take a final tour of the park.
