Jaguars Almost Starred Their AFC Rival

The Jacksonville Jaguars suffered a major blow last week when wide receiver Christian Kirk was ruled out for the season with a broken collarbone against the Green Bay Packers.

Now, information has emerged that implies the Jaguars have lost not just a key weapon, but a potential trade deal as well.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Jaguars were reaching an agreement to move the wide receiver to the Steel City. approves what we reported last week.

“Aside from the wide receiver trades the NFL has already seen in recent weeks, there was another one in the making,” Schefter said. wrote. “The Steelers were in the process of working out a deal for Christian Kirk, and league sources told ESPN that there was a reasonable chance the Jaguars wide receiver would remain in Pittsburgh until he broke his collarbone last Sunday. Pittsburgh’s hope for the receiver corps, a league source told ESPN “But the Steelers aren’t giving up.”

The Steelers will probably find their man. It won’t just be Kirk. Kirk was on the table as a trade deadline target for a struggling team with dashed hopes. Kirk, still in the prime of his career, could be transferred for a solid fee.

This would give the Jaguars much-needed draft capital for the 2025 NFL Draft (potentially beyond) and something for a potential new general manager and coach to work with in the offseason (if owner Shad Khan decides enough is enough).

What this means for the organization’s relationship with Kirk is another story.
