WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – Good evening Texoma! I hope you’re enjoying the rainy, dreary Sunday we’ve been dealing with. The morning was fairly dry, but around lunchtime we experienced heavy showers across the region. We’re not done with the rain yet, as the afternoon rain was just a pre-match event. Our heaviest rainfall is coming tonight and during the night hours. Around 10 p.m., a major squall line should begin pushing into Texoma, bringing very heavy downpours with gusty winds to the area. We could see some storms forming further ahead of the main line as well. These storms can be supercellular and range from strong to severe. As for the hurricane threat; currently low but not zero. We’re not expecting a large-scale tornado, but one or two weak-spin tornadoes down or within the line can’t be ruled out. However, the main focus will still be on heavy rain. Computer models suggest showers will fall throughout the weekend, with much of Texoma likely to see 3-6 inches of precipitation. Towards tomorrow, another cluster of storms with similar threats to today is expected.
