INDIA bloc files complaint against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Sarma for ‘provocative’ remarks in Jharkhand, he responds

INDIA bloc leaders on Saturday filed a complaint against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jharkhand, accusing the BJP leader of making “provocative and divisive” speeches during his last election rally in the state.

“These people will vote in one place, but our Hindus will vote half here and half there,” the BJP leader said in his speech in Sarath on November 1. He also said, “This government invites spies because a special community will vote for them.”

Referring to these remarks, the INDIA bloc, in a letter to the CEO, said: “His use of highly divisive and hateful language targeting Muslim minorities” is an example of “toxic language used to create a civil war-like situation and incite violence in the country” . Upcoming parliamentary elections.”

The complaint also highlighted other controversial statements allegedly made by Sarma on different occasions.

“It deliberately portrays all members of a particular religious minority as spies with the aim of exploiting and deepening existing social divisions for political gain, creating communal tension and disrupting the social fabric of Jharkhand for electoral interests,” the letter said.

INDIA block also presented recordings of Sarma alleging that the Hemant Soren government in Jharkhand was supporting Bangladeshi spies.

“This dangerous tactic not only undermines the democratic process but also violates the fundamental structure of our Constitution and contradicts various judicial pronouncements and decisions of the Supreme Court against hate speech,” INDIA bloc leaders said.

Sarma, however, responded by questioning why the INDIA bloc had filed a complaint against him for talking about spies.

“Why are you complaining about me? What am I saying? Why do they get hurt when I speak out against the infiltrators? “Where, in which law, does it say that it is wrong to speak against infiltrators?” Assam Chief Minister asked.

He also said, “Talking about Hindus does not mean targeting Muslims. I’m not even talking about the word ‘Muslim’. India is a Hindu civilization and talking about preserving them is a positive thing…”

Meanwhile, BSP leader Kushwaha Shivpujan Mehta, contesting from Hussainabad seat, filed a separate complaint in court against Sarma, alleging that he was disturbing communal harmony.

During an election rally in Hussainabad, Sarma had said that if the BJP comes to power after the assembly elections, the subdivision in Palamu district will be made a district and will be named after Lord Ram or Krishna.

The Assembly election in Jharkhand is planned to be held in two phases on November 13 and November 20 and 81 MPs will be elected.
