Joel Embiid launches into X-rated rant as he responds to criticism

Joel Embiid gave everything he had to the city of Philadelphia and the 76ers team.

However, due to the time he missed with injuries throughout his career, he feels that he did not receive the necessary respect for everything he went through.

While Embiid missed many games throughout his career due to injury, he also appeared in training camps out of shape many times.

The 30-year-old star forward has missed 372 games in the regular season, including four so far this season.

Embiid has missed all eight playoff games since being drafted third overall in 2014.

Last season, he missed 43 games due to a meniscus tear in his left knee, eventually returning just before the playoffs but injuring his face and forcing Bell to play with his friends.

Criticism about the former MVP’s ability to stay healthy and on the court has grown louder, leading Embiid to address reporters this week.

“When I see people say, ‘He doesn’t want to play’… I’ve done so much for this city by putting myself at risk for people to say that. So I think it’s bullshit,” Embiid said, specifically referencing an op-ed in the Philadelphia Inquirer that called for fans to get refunds when Embiid doesn’t play.

“… I’ve done too much to this fucking city to be treated like this.”

Embiid went on to list all the times he played when he probably would have been better off sitting out.

Broken fingers, knee ailments, facial fractures, the list of Embiid’s injury history goes on.

His body is like the Operation game. There are broken bones and torn ligaments everywhere.

But Embiid is still trying to overcome the pain.

“I did it. From what I can tell you, I broke my face twice, came back early at risk of losing my vision, broke my fingers (and) still came back,” Embiid said.

“I wish I were as lucky as the others,” he said later. “But that doesn’t mean I won’t do whatever it takes to get there, which I will do very soon.”

Embiid drew the ire of TNT when he came out before the start of the season and said he probably wouldn’t play in back-to-back games for the rest of his career. Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley.

John Salley talked about what Kobe Bryant said about Michael Jordan that determined his career path

The seven-time All-Star hopes to return to the field soon as he increases his workload in training.

The 76ers, already stumbling off a 1-3 start, can’t wait any longer.

Not to mention that Embiid’s supposed star running mate and expensive free-agent acquisition Paul George is also out due to injury.

It’s Groundhog Day again for Philadelphia.

Whether the criticisms of Embiid are fair probably falls somewhere in the middle.

But a guy who signed a three-year, $192.9 million maximum contract extension needs to be on the field.

It’s frustrating for everyone involved, including Embiid.

Playing professional sports in Philadelphia is not for the faint of heart, Embiid knows that.

He also knows that the only way to silence them is to offer the ultimate reward. NBA championship.
