Clemson wins battle with NC State for top safety recruiting | Sport

Highly touted SAF Jordan Young (6-0, 165) of Monroe, N.C., announced his commitment to Clemson during a media conference held at his high school on Saturday. Young chose the Tigers primarily over NC State, which he had visited numerous times. The Wolfpack also offered him a chance to play offense. He also recently took a visit to Michigan and kept Florida State on his short list until the very end.

But Clemson was always a major factor in Young’s progress along the way. He visited the Tigers for a game last November, then made his official visit the first weekend in June. He played in two matches this season.

“Not too far, not too close to home,” Young said after making his announcement via On3, noting that NC State was the hardest team to say no to. “I feel like I have a chance to play early on. They’ve been consistent with me the whole process and I’m ready to be a Tiger. I feel good that it’s over, I’m happy and I’ve moved on to the next step. The next goal of football for me is I’m a very hard-working player, I’m a long-range DB and “When I get the ball, I try to score goals.”

Other notable offers to Young include South Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, LSU, Miami, Auburn, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Penn State, Southern Cal, Alabama and Florida State.

Last season, Young totaled 66 tackles with five tackles, four forced fumbles, three pass breakups and one interception. He also caught 34 passes for 812 yards and 8 touchdowns. In eight games this season, Young has 25 tackles with five interceptions and eight pass deflections. He also has 18 catches for 420 yards and five touchdowns.

Young had 14 commitments to Clemson for the 2025 class, with the third listed as a safety.
