Three Score Seniors announce new officers | News, Sports, Jobs

WEIRTON — Three Score Senior Club members gathered for their October meeting at the behest of President Cathy McCarrick. The meeting used a Halloween theme, with candy handed out before the start. Bob DiFonzo began the meeting with a prayer, then led the group in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing: “God Bless America.”

The night’s entertainment was provided by the Hollywood Ukuleles group, consisting of seven ukulele players and one harmonica player.

Secretary Barbara Purks read the minutes approved by those who attended the September meeting. Minister of Finance Brenda Edwards, who gave her financial report, stated that she would collect the dues by the end of the year. He noted that dues remain the same cost as in previous years. Sunshine President Winnie Kemp addressed the group, starting with a prayer and then saying she was sending get-well cards to Josi Elliott, Jim Hare and Cil Fridley. Ed Kennedy and Denise Shade’s October birthdays were celebrated and recognized. Head of Reservations Vivian Weigel reported that 35 members and one guest attended the meeting.

Linda Kennedy introduced Frank Bohach as the club’s presidential candidate. Purks will continue in her role as secretary and Edwards will once again be the group’s treasurer. Both agreed to remain in their respective roles, officials said. Kathy McCarrick accepted the position of vice president. McCarrick and George Pohlman delighted the audience with their jokes. Awards were given to Rich Ceraolo, Lee Edwards, Rob Klepadlo, Weigel, Edwards, Lea Shirer and Jane Watson.

DiFonzo gave the blessing and the meeting was then adjourned.
