Identities of fatal accidents announced

Law enforcement officials yesterday released the names of two people killed in separate car crashes late Monday and early Tuesday.

The pedestrian killed Monday evening after being struck by a car in Yuba City was 72-year-old Thomas Steven Waicunas Jr., according to the Sutter County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office. happened. Waicunas was homeless, the office said.

Yuba City police did not respond to questions about the crash involving Waicunas, which reportedly occurred around 8 p.m. today near Bridge and Plumas streets in downtown Yuba City.

The Placer County Sheriff-Coroner’s office has identified the 26-year-old woman who died when a car she was riding in rolled over near Lincoln early Tuesday as Isabel Blanco Vasquez. They did not specify which community he lived in.

The California Highway Patrol said Vasquez, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle at about 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, when it went off the right shoulder and overturned.

The driver of the overturned vehicle was identified by the CHP as William Bryan Cubias-Martinez, 26, of Marysville. He was transported to a hospital for treatment and will be booked into the Placer County Jail upon his release on suspicion of driving under the influence, the CHP said.

A GoFundMe site for funeral expenses identified the dead woman as Isabel Vasquez Blanco and that her family was in Yuba City. We reached out to the woman who set up the GoFundMe site to confirm the name, but did not hear back by press time.
