Manhunt continues for suspect in fatal hit-and-run at I-55 construction site

Arkansas State Police (ASP) and the U.S. Marshals Service are searching for a suspect in the death of a highway worker at the Interstate 55 construction zone in West Memphis.

Arkansas State Police open investigation into Interstate 55 construction zone incident

On September 18, the West Memphis Police Department stopped a maroon Corvette for a traffic violation on East Broadway in West Memphis around 10 p.m.

The vehicle fled from police, entered I-55 South and fled toward a construction site within 30 miles of the vehicle.

According to ASP, the Corvette hit two Arkansas Department of Transportation contract workers and then fled to Memphis, Tennessee. Justin Delgado, 36, of Lola, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Crittenden County Coroner. The condition of the second injured worker is still serious.

Calvion Dayshun Thomas, 23, of Memphis, Tennessee, is a suspect in Delgado’s death.

Thomas faces the following felony charges: First Degree Murder, First Degree Assault, Theft by Taking, and Escape.
