Erik ten Hag published a message to Manchester United fans after he was sacked by the club.

The Red Devils also sit 21st out of 36 teams in the UEFA Europa League and have drawn all three of their matches in this competition.

The full statement is as follows: “Dear fans, let me start by thanking you. Thank you for always being there for the club.

“Whether it was a game away or a tough game at Old Trafford, your support was unwavering. The atmosphere at Old Trafford was always exciting thanks to you. I felt it many times.

“Also, in away games, whether the game was in England, Europe or during the summer tour, hearing United take over the opponents’ stadiums gave the team and me an incredible feeling.

“I’ve always enjoyed meeting Manchester United fans all over the world. Being able to walk the streets and chat to fans from across the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia and the USA – you’ve inspired me and spread a strong sense of unity. That’s what United fans are all about. ” very special.

“I want to thank you for giving me this feeling and for your support. I also want to thank the staff in every department of the club for their support in good times and bad times.

“We won two trophies; achievements that I will remember for the rest of my life. Of course, my dream was to bring more trophies to the cabinet. Unfortunately, this dream has come to an end.

“I wish all Manchester United fans nothing but success, trophies and victories. Your support and the warmth I have received from everyone at the club has made me feel at home. Thank you for this chapter of my life.”
