A CN train derailed near Beiseker, Alta., Friday morning.

According to RCMP, the derailment occurred north of Highway 9 between Highway 806 and Range Road 255.

In total, 19 vehicles went off the rails. Investigators are trying to find out what was inside the cars, police said.

Firefighters and CN personnel were also dispatched to the scene.

“At this time, no injuries, hazardous materials or fires have been reported as a result of the incident,” CN said in the statement.

Two railway crossings were reported to be affected.

CN apologized to local passengers for the inconvenience caused by the incident.

RCMP said traffic was not affected but asked people to avoid the area.

Beiseker is located approximately 75 kilometers northeast of Calgary.
