John Williams Declined a Request to Film John Williams’ Disney+ Music, But I Think His Logic Makes a Lot of Sense

I recently had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Bouzereau before the publication of his latest document. During the interview, he told both details about his film and entertaining anecdotes about his conversations about the main subject of the film. So I was a little disappointed, but he said, ‘I’ll get you something.’ You’ll see.”

But there is an upside to all of this. As Laurent Bouzereau would later explain to me, the musician eventually fulfilled his promise to share something else:

Suddenly he launched into an absolutely baffling explanation of what five notes meant, and it was actually a sentence with a question mark at the end. And it was so incredible to me and so much better than the predictable thing that I knew it was going to happen in the movie and I knew it was going to be important. Actually, someone was at the screening at AFI and he was sitting behind a great composer who was there, and at that moment the composer turned to his wife (and) said, ‘That was amazing.’ Right at that moment, you know?

John Williams gives a truly incredible explanation for the notes and, unsurprisingly, is incredibly insightful. The same can be said for many of the thoughts shared in this production. In addition to showcasing Williams’ wisdom, The movie 2024 was released It also highlights how much he influenced so many musicians. One of these people featured in the document is Chris Martin. The Coldplay veteran has a particularly sweet moment in the film, and Laurent Bouzereau explained how they came together:

Another moment that really meant a lot to me and reflected John’s immortal nature was when Daryl Frank, one of my producers, suggested I interview Chris Martin from Coldplay because he was coming on stage with (ET score). ). And I brought my iPhone and gave it to him. I said, ‘Okay, react.’ And he said, ‘What do I say?’ he said. ‘I just want to see your reaction,’ I said. And so it was; You saw a man I’d never met before become a child in front of me, and I think that moment of real emotion and real, honest appreciation of what music can do was priceless.

I don’t think it’s a great thing to see the not-quite-retired Mr. Williams. He gets his flowers and his life and career are highlighted through a documentary like this. Of course, I also appreciate that he doesn’t compromise his integrity as an artist in the process, even if it means rejecting a request from his director. This is yet another reason to respect one of the greatest artists to ever pick up a conductor’s baton.
