Nine days before the event, cameras followed everyone from stylist Carine Roitfeld to choreographer Parris Goebel. VogueAnna Wintour, global editor-in-chief of , worked day and night to make Vogue World a reality.

Most of the action takes place just steps away from Place Vendôme at The Westin Paris, whose roots date back to the 19th century. Acting as the unofficial hub of the entire event, the hotel transformed its lobby, ballroom, and countless other spaces into a flurry of models, fashion editors, moodboarders, and clothing racks. (Sensing the increasing stress, staff distributed survival kits that included massagers.) Meanwhile, Goebel and her 69 dancers practiced tirelessly at a local French high school.

The images also feature the talented tailors and seamstresses of major French fashion houses who worked on the look for the catwalk. It was an exciting moment for many: At Chanel, for example, a team redesigned dresses originally designed by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. “Usually you see these dresses in museums, but for once we could do it ourselves,” says Chanel tailor Brice Leblac. It’s no wonder model Amelia Gray got a little emotional while trying on a beaded dress at The Westin Paris: “Pinch me everywhere, please and thank you.”
