CHICAGO (Wales) — A Chicago police officer was struck by a hit-and-run driver in the South Shore neighborhood Friday morning, Chicago police said.

The incident occurred around 1:28 a.m. in the 7500 block of South Phillips Boulevard.

At a large Halloween gathering, officers responded to assist with a traffic control when police said a white sedan heading eastbound struck the officer in the leg and fled the scene.

The officer was treated at the scene and released, police said.

Police said no one was in custody. District Two detectives are continuing the investigation.
