“Thailand continues to strongly urge all parties to return to the path of peace, on behalf of the innocent civilians seriously affected by this protracted and deepening conflict,” Maris said.

Three Israeli civilians were also killed in rocket attacks from Lebanon, Israeli medics said late Thursday, in the deadliest cross-border attack since the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah escalated in August.

An estimated 30,000 Thai citizens live in Israel, where salaries are much higher than in the Southeast Asian country.

Thai citizens in Israel have been shot since the start of Israel’s war in Gaza last October. More than two dozen Thais were thought to have been captured during a Hamas-led offensive into southern Israel that same month, and 23 were released from captivity during a brief ceasefire in November 2023.

The Israeli army announced that two more Thai citizens died in captivity in Gaza in May.

While there have been cross-border attacks between Israel and Hezbollah almost every day since the start of the Gaza war, Israel has intensified its air strikes and killing Hezbollah leaders as the war entered its second year.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health, at least 2,865 people have been killed and 13,047 injured in Israeli attacks in Lebanon since the start of the war in Gaza. According to Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health, 45 people have been killed across the country in the last 24 hours.

On Friday, the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported that Israeli warplanes hit at least 10 targets in many neighborhoods in the south of the capital Beirut, causing casualties.

“The raids caused massive destruction in the targeted areas, with dozens of buildings destroyed as well as fires,” NNA said.

Lebanese media reported that at least two people were killed and four people were injured in Israeli attacks.

Al Jazeera correspondent Zeina Khodr, reporting from Beirut, said the attacks followed another “failed diplomatic attempt” to end the conflict, as senior US officials Amos Hochstein and Brett McGurk were in Israel on Thursday to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu .

“Usually, after negotiations are held in Israel, they go to Beirut. This time they did not do that, which is a clear indication that there is really no progress or breakthrough,” Khodr said.

The Israeli army continues to order forced displacement in Lebanon, including the entire eastern city of Baalbek, leaving tens of thousands of people homeless.

“This is a strategy; substitution. This is a form of pressure, just like airstrikes,” Khodr said.
