CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR/Gray News) – A 4-month-old baby died a week after being hit by a car in Virginia, according to authorities.

In a statement from the Albemarle County Police Department, authorities said police responded to a report of a car hitting a pedestrian in Charlottesville around 7 p.m. on Oct. 24.

According to the release, the crash occurred on Stony Point Road in the Riverside Shops Way area.

Officers said a southbound driver hit the 4-month-old child and the woman, ages 1, 3, and 38, who were crossing the street.

The children were taken to UVA Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The woman, who was in serious condition, was taken to the hospital.

According to the police statement, the driver was uninjured and remained at the scene.

According to the statement, the 4-month-old baby unfortunately died due to his injuries on Wednesday. Authorities were not able to identify any of the victims or the driver.

The Albemarle County Police Department asked for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.

The investigation into the accident continues.
