New York state suspends Kenneth Chesebro’s law license

New York appeals court on Thursday suspended Former President Donald Trump ally Kenneth Chesebro’s law license after striking a plea deal with prosecutors in Georgia’s sweeping racketeering case.

There was Chesebro accused Trump and 17 other defendants in Fulton County last year regarding alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election in the Peach state. He was indicted on seven charges, but pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to present a false document. He also agreed to testify in the case.

The court said the Georgia conviction “categorically meets the definition of a serious crime in that state.”

“Having concluded that the defendant was convicted of a serious crime, we temporarily suspended the defendant from the practice of law in New York,” the court wrote.

It’s unclear how long the suspension will be in effect, but it is “effective immediately.”

Chesebro is currently licensed to practice law in Massachusetts, California, Texas, Florida and Illinois. According to NBC News.

The New York lawyer is just one of several pro-Trump attorneys whose licenses have been suspended or disbarred because of the Georgia case. Jenna Ellis and former Republican New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani also experienced such repercussions.
