Al Michaels has fun throwing shade at Jets’ ‘dark moment’

The Jets had reached their lowest point of the season, and an iconic NFL announcer was making fun of the team’s struggles while playing on “Thursday Night Football.”

Gang Green lost five in a row in a home game against the Texans, and Al Michaels noted that the Jets’ uniform color for this game was all black: He said it looked appropriate. For the team in the basement of the AFC East.

“The Jets, as they say, choose to wear black tonight in a dark moment,” Michaels said during the Prime Video broadcast.

This comes after some frank conversations from Michaels with analyst Kirk Herbstreit before the match.

The duo noted that things were in a much better place the last time the Jets were on “TNF,” with New York crushing the Patriots and being over .500 in Week 3.

But it’s been a disaster since then, including the firing of head coach Robert Saleh and a winless streak by interim coach Jeff Ulbrich.

“This is Halloween night. If you’re a Jets fan, you’ve probably seen this horror movie before. 2-1, a promising start, now they have lost five games in a row. Any kind of loss. This is a team that Aaron Rodgers was still very optimistic about in our meeting the other day. He comes up with a plan that he thinks will help them run the table. And we finished with 11 wins; good luck. Optimism is one thing, reality is another.”

Herbstreit noted that there is a talented group that includes Rodgers, Davante Adams, Breece Hall and others, but tonight’s game is a “must-win.”

And it’s all come before Malachi Corley’s unexplained decline in football Before he reached the goal line, it cost him his first NFL touchdown.

“They lost these five games in every aspect. Now you understand this. This is something new,” Michaels said after that brutal play.
