Manchester City loan watch: Norwich City loanee Callum Doyle analyzed

Manchester City defender Callum Doyle has played all but five minutes of Norwich City’s title-winning campaign so far, and that tells its own story.

It would not be wrong to say that he was a turning point for the team; He started the season as a centre-back and moved to the left-back position in the last weeks. The highlight was the stunning goal scored in the 4-1 win against Watford at Carrow Road.

He has already made over 90 appearances in the second division after loan spells at Leicester, Coventry and Sunderland and looks very comfortable in the league at the age of 21. Doyle is also a regular in the England Under-21 team.

The Canaries’ new Danish head coach, Johannes Hoff Thorup, likes his full-backs to cover a lot of space and join midfield positions when necessary. Doyle was the perfect actor for the job.

He is strong on the ball and plays with energy and clear stamina that goes a long way in the hustle and bustle of the Championship. At times his eagerness to get forward has the potential to leave defensive areas open, but Norwich fans are quick to applaud his gut-wrenching runs back into position.

Carrow Road fans are already dreaming of a permanent transfer for his services but it is clear that he is a player destined to move to the Premier League one way or another.
