Kitchener and Guelph Costco stores to start selling beer, wine and cider

People visiting Costco locations in Kitchener and Guelph will be able to pick up beer, wine, cider and ready-to-drink spirits as early as Thursday.

The Costco Wholesale location at 4438 King Street East in Kitchener and 19 Elmira Road South in Guelph has been given the green light from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) to begin selling the beverages, according to the provincial government’s website.

This comes after the state expanded alcohol sales to grocery stores, convenience stores and department stores earlier this year.

Dozens of Costco stores in Ontario have received approval to begin selling beer, cider, wine and prepared beverages starting Oct. 31, according to AGCO.

The upcoming Brantford Costco location has also successfully applied to sell alcohol, according to AGCO’s website. This store is scheduled to open on November 8.
