NYPD: 44-year-old woman dies in pedestrian crash in New Dorp on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, NY – A 44-year-old woman died after being struck by a car while walking through a busy intersection in New Dorp Wednesday night.

According to a spokesperson for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information, police responded to the pedestrian who struck the pedestrian at the intersection of Hylan Boulevard and New Dorp Lane around 10:28 p.m.

According to a preliminary investigation by the NYPD Highway District Crash Investigation Team, a 44-year-old woman was walking eastbound on Hylan in the left lane of westbound Hylan Boulevard when she was struck by a 2012 Nissan Maxima traveling westbound on Hylan.

EMS responded and transported the 44-year-old woman to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze, where she died, a police spokesman said.

A police spokesman said the 18-year-old man driving the Nissan remained at the scene.

A police spokesman said no arrests had been made and the investigation was ongoing.
